Spain’s
Paula Badosa has opened up about boyfriend Stefanos
Tsitsipas support during difficult times. The two have been dating for more than
a year now and are often regarded as one of the power couples in professional
tennis.
Badosa has struggled with fitness concerns in the recent
past. She returned to the court earlier this year after spending nearly 12
months on the sidelines. She had a very good season under her belt which is why
she ended the year as the world number 11. The New York-born star has been
recently quoted in a report where she talked in detail about how her boyfriend Tsitsipas
has helped during her difficult times. The reigning world number 11 revealed
that not only the Greek tennis star is a ‘very sensitive’ person but also
explained how he ended up suffering himself because of caring too much to make
things better for his girlfriend.
"Stefanos was an unconditional support for me in all
those months I spent lying on a sofa," said Badosa. "He is a very
sensitive person and, sometimes, he empathized so much that he ended up
suffering too much. There were times when I had to cheer myself up just for
him, who was constantly looking for solutions to make me feel better," she
added. "That's why when I won the title in Washington, he was the first
person I called and mentioned because the truth is that he has been very
important in my recovery."
Badosa’s year came to an end when she was forced to withdraw
from the Japan Open because of a fitness concern. She ended up winning 37 out
of 55 matches and suffered just 18 defeats in the process. Her best outing this
year came at the Mubadala Citi Open where she lifted the title after beating Marie
Bouzkova in the final with a score of 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 .
