Tunisia’s tennis star
Ons Jabeur reacted in a hilarious
manner after the former world number two Spain’s
Paula Badosa decided to pick
her ahead of
Aryna Sabalenka as her best friend. The 26-year-old and the
current world number two are famous for their friendship. They are often seen
on the social media spending time together and posting pictures. Interestingly,
they are now set to face each other in the round of 16 of the WTA event — the Stuttgart
Open — on Wednesday.
Badosa, during a conversation with the media in the
competition, was asked an interesting question by the three-time Grand Slam
runner-up Jabeur as she picked up the microphone: "Very important
question, because everybody wants to know, who is your best friend on tour?”.
In response to that, the Manhattan-born instantly replied ‘you’. Jabeur was
excited as she responded by saying: “Send me the tape. Send me”.
Badosa defeated Russia’s Diana Shnaider in the round of 32
of the competition on Monday in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-4. On the
other hand, Jabeur, who is having a tough 2024 season till now as she has only
managed to play in the quarterfinal or beyond in only one event this year, will
play her first-round encounter of the competition against Ekaterina Alexandrova
on Tuesday.
