Out of nowhere,
Danielle Collins started playing really strong tennis winning another match in a comfortable fashion.
The American has had to deal with injuries and other physical issues in the past several months. It's unfortunate because she started the year well in Australia reaching the Australian Open final and losing to Barty. It's nothing strange for her, it's been always like that but the American is really enjoying her time in New York:
“Honestly, I’m having the time of my life. This is what we dreamed of when we were kids, playing these night matches. I grew up watching Venus and Serena winning most of their matches. They gave me a lot of inspiration. Being here is so special. I feel so much at home.”
She praised her opponent, Cornet, who might be playing her final year on the Tour:
"Alizé was really playing well and made me work for every point. If you look at her record, she battles every single match. When she goes down, she doesn’t go down easy. I knew that I was going to have to follow some balls into the net, be patient, have to win the point two, three, four times. Her anticipation is one of the best on tour. I just had to fight as hard as I could.”
