"I believe I can beat him" - Tiafoe on playing Nadal

Frances Tiafoe will try his best to defeat Rafael Nadal at the US Open and despite not being considered the favourite, Tiafoe thinks he can do it.

Frances Tiafoe outlasted Diego Schwartzman in the 3rd round of the US Open to advance to the 4th round where he will play Rafael Nadal. The stakes are a place in the quarterfinal and Tiafoe would certainly love a good upset for the fans.

It will be very hard to do but Tiafoe believes he can do it:

“Now I believe I can beat him - I’m definitely going to come after him. [I need to] match his intensity from the first point to the last. You can’t really have any dips - he takes advantage of it.”

The match against Schwartzman was a good one with many twists and turns and Tiafoe enjoyed it:

“I thought it was a hell of a match. Especially that first set - one of the craziest sets I've played in my career. It had everything in it. Down two breaks, serving again at 6-5, me down 6-3 in the breaker. Unbelievable how I even won the set.”
