After being sidelined for close to a year,
Bianca Andreescu has her sights set on progress and improvement during the 2022 WTA season.
The 2019 US Open champion has dealt with injuries since the 2020 season, having to take time off to tend to a nagging knee problem. Furthermore, a serious bout with Covid put her on the shelf, hindering her return to the court.
Nonetheless, the former World No.4 is eager to return to the court, as she seems to have put all her problems behind her.
"At this point, I have to be grateful just for being back on the court since October 2019. It was a tough period, not only for me but for everyone," Andreescu told the Australian Open TV.
Now ranked at No. 46 in the world, the 21-year old is hoping to return to her best tennis in 2022.
"I just want to go out there, play my best tennis, trust my capabilities and the training that I've had," Andreescu said. "Hopefully I can do big things.
"Outside of everything else, I did take time for myself to reflect on myself as a person and the whole world. The best athletes, they're able to take it more as a challenge than a setback. I try to have that mindset too."
