Although it is still a recent addition to the ATP Tour, the Almaty Open has already drawn recognition from players and fans as one of the most exciting events on the ATP Calendar.
An ATP 250 event, the Almaty Open made its debut on tour during the 2020 season. Known as the Astana Open at it's introduction, the event was quickly granted permanent status in 2024.
Due to it's popularity, the tournament was moved from Astana to Almaty, a much larger city with a population of over 2 million people. This year's edition will run from October 13-19 2025, with the hard court tournament featuring 28 singles players and 16 doubles teams.
Former World No.1 Novak Djokovic prevailed at the 2022 Astana Open, with Frenchman Adrian Mannarino leaving the city with the title in 2023. Russian tennis star Karen Khachanov was victorious at last year's event, and the former World No.8 will return in a bid to defend his title.

Bublik to compete in front of home fans

Kazakh star Alexander Bublik will get the opportunity to fight for the title in his home nation, and will no doubt have the full support of the partisan crowd. The 28-year old has been in great form during the 2025 season, already winning four titles across three different surfaces.
Former World No.1 Daniil Medvedev is also scheduled to compete at the event. The Russian will have to get past the likes of rising Italian star Flavio Cobolli, in addition to Americans Brandon Nakashima and Alex Michelsen.
The event will be broadcast globally, with fans outside of Kazakhstan able to watch the tournament live. In the United States, the tournament will be shown in full on Tennis Channel. Sky Sports will show the tournament in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, South Tyrol, Italy, San Marino, and Vatican City. While in Australia it is shown on beIN Sports, in New Zealand it is shown on DAZN.
beIN Sports also shows the event in France. Canal+ ordinarily shows the tournaments in Poland, Czech Republic, and Slovakia but all are out of the reckoning for this tournament as well as Nottingham, Iasi, Sao Paolo, Wuhan, Guangzhou, and Jiujiang. Eleven Sports shows the event in Portugal.
