Iga Swiatek battled back against Jule Niemeier at the
US Open and the Polish player was very happy with her effort.
It looked very shaky at times for the Pole but she was able to survive a very inspired effort from the German. After shaking up the confidence of Niemeier, Swiatek was able to take advantage of the German falling apart in the final set:
“I am proud that I didn’t lose hope. She was playing really good in the first set. I had a hard time pushing her back. In the second set I tried to focus on the small things and I am glad it worked and I used my experience to keep the same level throughout the whole match."
Next up for her is Jessica Pegula and that will be another tricky matchup for Swiatek. The American has played superb tennis in the past few weeks.
