Eugenie Bouchard shared a picture of her latest New Balance sneakers in collaboration with Los Angeles-based apparel company Bricks & Wood.
The Canadian signed a multi-year deal with New Balance in February 2020 and joined the likes of Coco Gauff, Milos Raonic, Danielle Collins and Heather Watson in partnering with the global athletic brand.
Bouchard seemed exuberant while unboxing her latest sneakers, especially with the "fuzzy" laces, and shared pictures of the latest collection on her Instagram account.
"The fuzzy shoe laces," Bouchard said, emphasizing the design's specialty.
The 28-year-old was previously in partnership with Nike, but felt it was the right move to sign with New Balance in 2020. She appreciated the fact that the American brand collaborates only with rare sports personalities and does not sign a lot of players, especially on the women's tour.
"I've noticed over the years, I’ve known a couple girls who wear their stuff, Sorana (Cirstea) and Heather (Watson)," said Bouchard. "They are cute outfits and there weren’t too many of them. I like that they are not trying to sign everyone under the sun. I hate wearing what my opponent is wearing.
"It is so weird when two girls are wearing the exact same thing and friends are asking ‘what is going on?’ It is a weird dynamic because tennis is so individual. I want to wear my own thing and never wear what another girl is wearing. A fact that New Balance only has a few players is a great bonus. They are slowly expanding, and it is a great time to hop on."
