"I have a precise plan, but I prefer to keep the details to myself": Pregnant Camila Giorgi trains intensely three hours a day in comeback bid
WTA
Stories about tax dodges and personal issues, Camila Giorgi vanished from the surface in 2024 but just like her vanishing from grace suddenly it was perhaps quite apt that she resurfaced announcing that not only is she pregnant but that she plans to return to tennis.
Currently pregnant, the Italian is already training intensely and will aim to come back perhaps doing the unthinkable or done by only a few people. Many have came back from becoming mothers to even play better. But often those who do are younger than some who haven't.
Angelique Kerber, Petra Kvitova and Caroline Wozniacki have either brought down the curtain on their careers or have become mothers again so it isn't sure whether they would come back and they are very much the embodiment of coming back and not being the same.
For Naomi Osaka even it has taken her a considerable amount of time to be anywhere close. But for Elina Svitolina and Belinda Bencic and even formerly Victoria Azarenka, it was very much a move that brought the best out of these players with Svitolina and Bencic in particular doing so.

How will Giorgi get on during return
But how will Giorgi who has often been a bit of an enigma get on. Despite being heavily pregnant already, she is staying fit and ready so she can return soon after. “I’ve been training seriously for a few months. Being pregnant, I am closely monitored by doctors, because the baby and its well-being come first. There will of course be a short break after childbirth, but I’m not worried about getting back in shape: I train about three hours a day," she said.
She has very much set 2027 as her goal with a new team and a fresh impetus to her game something that she hopes will pay dividends. She also said as per Gazzetta Dello Sport that she never really said goodbye and that she wanted to just have a break to experience everything that life had to offer.
It was during a time that some had breaks from the sport too and some returned, others didn't. Garbine Muguruza for instance never did and she retired, while Bianca Andreescu and Amanda Anisimova did for mental health reasons. The latter returning and she is better than ever.

Camila Giorgi plans return.
“It was never a goodbye. I am a very reserved person who reveals little about my private life. However, I want to talk about my return to thank everyone who continued to follow me and send me affection. I simply needed to take a break to experience other things.”
But she plans not to want too much either. She said that she will play smaller tournaments in Italy to get herself back in that position as she she plans for a bigger return that she said she is keeping under wraps.
“I would like to make my return at a tournament in Italy. The idea is to first go through secondary tournaments to regain rhythm, and then rejoin the main circuit when I am at 100%. I have a precise plan, but I prefer to keep the details to myself.”
