America’s tennis star Jessica Pegula has revealed that she decided to skip the WTA tournament in Stuttgart because of playing too much in the recent past. The 30-year-old recently took part in the Billie Jean King Cup where she represented Team USA who ended up defeating Belgium 3-0 to book their place in the finals of the event which is scheduled to take place in Seville.
Pegula, who won both of her matches in the competition, became one of the most high-profile players to skip the tournament in Stuttgart and she was recently quoted in a report where she revealed the primary reason for skipping the mega-event.
"Yeah, I pulled out of Stuttgart a couple of days ago just because the turnaround is just too tough,” she said. “I was thinking I could maybe go and play, but the flight situation wasn't great getting there. I'd have to leave tonight. I just didn't really feel like it was worth it. Plus it kind of extends my trip into Europe a week to 10 days earlier. I just wanted to get a really good kind of week at home on the clay, back to clay, to prep for Madrid, Rome and French."
