Coco Gauff may have snapped the hoodoo that Iga Swiatek had over her in Cincinnati, but she lost out in the semi-finals of the China Open with a superb display from the Pole.
Swiatek now faces off against Liudmila Samsonova, but one theme of her season so far since the French Open has been a notion that the now former World No.1 is out of form and has not had a good season.
Gauff dispelled that in press after defeat saying she would dream to have the season that Swiatek had after being World No.1 'forever' and winning a Grand Slam.
Since winning in Paris, she performed well at Wimbledon despite it not being a favored surface and lost at worst in the Last 16 in the US Open going to the Quarter-Finals and better. But after so long with the Polish ace on top, questions have swirled.
“I mean, I've seen some of the comments people are saying like she had not a good season. I mean, she won a Grand Slam & was #1 forever. I'm like, I would dream to have the season like she had this year.”
