Serena Williams has not played since suffering an injury at Wimbledon and it's not expected she will play until the US Open.
The American is focusing solely on Grand Slam trying to win a few more which would allow her to displace Margaret as the record holder for most grand slam wins (24). Speaking on a USA-based Talk Show the American tennis legend confirmed her intention to focus solely on Grand Slams:
"I really play for Grand Slams right now. I love still having the opportunity to be out here and be able to compete at this level. It’s an opportunity anytime I win a Grand Slam it means the world to me."
The 39-year old did not offer any insight about her current status or how the recovery is ongoing but it's widely believed she will be ready for the US Open. Serena is also listed as participating at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati later this year which might be her only prep event ahead of the US Open.
She did not offer any more details on her future besides confirming her commitment to playing Grand Slams.
