Aryna Sabalenka caught only glimpses of the
Wimbledon final between Rybakina and Jabeur but she said it was great tennis as she gets ready to take on Rybakina in the
Australian Open final.
Sabalenka is trying to do what
Elena Rybakina did at Wimbledon and that's to win a grand slam. She's been playing superb tennis but so has Rybakina making this a very good final. Sabalenka complimented her opponent on her Wimbledon level calling it 'very good tennis' after catching glimpses of it:
"Oh, no, I didn't watch Wimbledon last year. I was feeling really bad about that, and I didn't watch Wimbledon at all. I mean, little bit the final just because I was working out in the gym. I saw a little bit. It was great tennis."
Asked about how differnet the approach between her and Rybakina will be, Sabalenka said:
"I don't know. Maybe you tell me what you think (laughter). Probably. I think it's just different. Like she play a little bit, like, flat, I maybe spin a little bit more. I think that's the different."
And added:
"Well, it's not going to make things easier. It's a final. It's not going to be easy match, you know? But I just happy that I made this, like, next step. I know that I have to work for that title."
