Mirra Andreeva joked that Daria Kasatkina can improve her interviewing skills as she tackles her close friend with the aim of reaching the Quarter-Finals of the
French Open.
Andreeva is a main feature of Kasatkina's 'What the Vlog' series which she does on YouTube with partner Natalia Zabiiako which often features the 18-year-old in funny interviews and even as she quipped taking on the camera herself.
She did so in Rome when players were eating asking the likes of Maria Sakkari, Donna Vekic and Elina Avanesyan hilarious questions. But as well as being a focal point of that, Kasatkina is also a close friend to Andreeva as she continues to grow on the tour.
“I think she can improve!” joked Andreeva laughing.
“No, honestly I think it’s very important that she finds great timing to ask people questions. I took the camera from her in Rome and started asking some people questions.. some of them were eating. Some of them were on the phone. So I felt like a little embarrassed. I think she’s doing a great job finding the right timing when to ask questions. I think her and Natasha have a great list of questions. They know what to ask. It’s entertaining and interesting. So I think… she’s okay”
All of that though will go out the window during their fourth round tie. Andreeva looked serene again as she eased past Yulia Putintseva in reaching that point. While Kasatkina took apart Paula Badosa.
Their only meeting previously came in Ningbo where Kasatkina came out on top in the final. It was kind of the best thing that happened to Andreeva though who cried after losing but she returned in 2025 to become an all conquering force winning Dubai and Indian Wells.
Now a first Grand Slam could be in its sights but as ever Andreeva is more in a jovial mood than out to make bold statement
