"I think she will be good and her ranking will rise" says Annabel Croft about Emma Raducanu

Emma Raducanu will be closely followed by everybody in 2022 as the Brit aims to improve her game and ranking and former player Annabel Croft is convinced she will do it successfully.

Emma Raducanu most recently played at the Champions Tennis exhibition event in London after which she will travel to the Middle East where she will spend close to a month preparing for the upcoming 2022 season. She will play at the Mubadala event in Abu Dhabi from December 16th till the 18th with her flight to Australia booked for the 27th.

Many will closely follow what Raducanu will be able to do in 2022 and former British player Annabel Croft shared her thoughts on her upcoming season. She said:

“I think with a new coach in place, I think she’ll be very good. He’s incredibly experienced, it’s early days. How long will they stick together? There’s a feeling that none of these coaches are going to be given long-term contracts so we’ll see how long it goes but I think she’s chosen somebody who is very experienced which is what she wanted."

Asked to give a prediction about her season Croft said:

“I think her ranking will continue to rise. I can’t see it going in reverse. I think they’ll obviously be enormous pressure building towards Wimbledon and then towards the US Open. I think she’s going back to the beginning and doing it in reverse and doing her apprenticeship now."

She continued:

“It’s an extraordinary situation and most players she’s playing up against are maybe three or 10 years [more] experience compared to her and she’s going to have to go through all those matches and learn about those situations which will take time. She’s not going to win every single match.”
