Naomi Osaka booked a spot in the quarterfinals of the
US Open following a victory against Kontaveit and after the match, she spoke to the media. She was very happy with the result calling her own performance as one of the best this year. She said:
"I thought it was pretty good. If I'm reflecting on attitude, I'm pretty sure it was up there with my top matches of this short year."
The last time they played was last week and
Osaka had to go to three sets in that one. In this on she managed to win in only two (6-3 6-4). About her gameplan she said:
"It's quite easy to get down on yourself, especially when you feel like you could have already converted so many opportunities, but I just told myself that she's a great player who's supposed to hold her serve, so just to keep pushing."
One lingering issues are still persistent for Osaka who pulled out of the event last week due to a leg injury. Asked about her leg she said:
"My leg felt better today. I was moving quite well, so I'm very happy about that."
