Karolina Pliskova reached the Rome Master's final for the 2nd year in a row and for a 2nd time she lost in the finals.
Unlike last years finals, this finals is one that tennis fans around the world will have a hard time to forgot as Iga Swiatek battered her 6-0 6-0. The Czech player said after the match that it was just one of those days when nothing worked:
"I think you have days like this in tennis where things are not going your way. I think that was the day today but I still tried, it was not really working for me."
Despite the embarrassing loss, Pliskova was adamant that she will quickly forget about this and move on:
“Anyway, I will just quickly forget about today. I think I had some great matches here, of course in the last couple of years I always (did) well."
Focusing on the positive of a very good week is a sound approach by Pliskova who ended her post-match comments by thanking her team for the good week and result:
“So, finals is always a great week, great tournament. Of course, thanks to my team for staying here all the time and supporting when things are not the best.”
