Iga Swiatek ascended back to the World No.1 spot in the WTA Ranking during the latest update after seeing off Jessica Pegula in an utterly rampant display at the WTA Finals.
In only the fashion that Swiatek could do it, she ripped apart the American on Sunday and also reclaimed her coveted top spot ending the reign of Aryna Sabalenka in recent months.
Recently Swiatek has not put a tremendous amount of onus on the World No.1 spot admitting that it was a weight off her shoulders when it did leave her.
But now she is back there, she is overjoyed and truly in her words wasn't expecting to return there so soon after an imperious reign ended since Ashleigh Barty retired at the start of 2022.
"Coming back to world no. 1 is a dream come true. I would say, I wasn't expecting that right now. This season I was kinda hoping that next season was going to be my year, but it seems like just working hard and focusing on the right things at the end worked, so I'm really happy."
