After dominating the WTA circuit for over a year, Polish star
Iga Swiatek has added a new milestone to her already impressive lists of achievements as she joins an exclusive list of tennis players.
The 22-year old has had a stranglehold on the World No.1 position for the majority of the 2023 season, filling the void left by the retired Australian Ashleigh Barty. Having held the top position for over 80 weeks, Swiatek's list of accomplishments continue to grow as she has now accumulated 100 wins ranked as the No.1 player in the world.
Swiatek joins Williams, Graf, Navratilova on prestigious list
The reigning French Open champion is currently competing at the
United Cup, where she is representing her home nation of Poland in the singles and mixed doubles events. Nonetheless, this hasn't stopped her from accruing wins, picking up her 100th win to join a list of WTA legends. The exclusive list consists of
Serena Williams, Justine Henin, Martina Hingis, Monica Seles, Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert.
With Swiatek showing little sign of slowing down and youth on her side, it will come as no surprise if she maintains her dominance on top of the rankings. Nonetheless, the four-time Grand Slam will be looking to add another Major title to her cabinet, when she competes at the upcoming
Australian Open, which runs from January 14-January 28, 2024.
