Iga Swiatek produced another banger performance by easily beating hometown hopeful
Coco Gauff in Miami 6-3 6-1.
Gauff entered this match with a lot of confidence after some great performances this week in Miami. She recently stated in an interview that she is hoping to get a good run into before the season turns to clay where Gauff is really tough to beat. Unfortunately for her, she ran into Iga Swiatek who has been the best player in the world for a few weeks now.
The Polish player will become the number one player officially after this event and she might just get the exclamation point by lifting the trophy here. Today she made another step towards that goal as she easily bested Gauff. The first set was an interesting one where Swiatek applied pressure from the start and despite some early struggles, Gauff was able to keep herself in the match.
Eventually, Swiatek established control of the match taking a break and finishing off the opening set with 6-3. The 2nd set was even better by Swiatek as she now fully found her rhythm. Playing some superb tennis, she took an early break and then another one. Ultimately the final score was 6-3 6-1 for the impressive win.
