Following the Australian Open fourth-round loss to Simona Halep, Iga decided to stay for another week in Australia and chase her second WTA title, playing well so far and awaiting Cori Gauff or Belinda Bencic in the final clash. Iga won ten out of 17 points on the second serve against Teichmann, fending off the only break chance given to the Swiss and converting three out of eight opportunities on the return that carried her over the finish line.
Iga grabbed a break in the fourth game with a backhand down the line winner and held from 0-30 with a service winner to cement the break and move 4-1 ahead. Teichmann fended off a set point in game eight with an unreturned serve before Swiatek held at 15 a few minutes later for 6-3. Iga seized a break at 2-2 in set number two with a smash winner at the net, and another one at 4-2, sealing the deal with a hold in game eight for the third WTA final.
