Indian Wells WTA Final Preview: Swiatek takes on Sakkari

Iga Swiatek takes on Maria Sakkari in the Indian Wells final with the winner securing the number two spot on the rankings.

Both of these players have played fabulous tennis so far which is why they are in the final. Iga Swiatek has been one of the best players in the world in 2022 and she has continued to excel here with wins over Kalinina, Tauson and Kerber. All of those matches went the distance and Swiatek exerted quite a lot of energy in winning them,

Her play got better in the final two matches as she took down Keys and Halep in straight sets. It's been a great year for the Polish player who has shown an improved level of mental toughness which makes her very tricky to beat. Sakkari on the other hand cruised through this event comfortably. She too is having a great year and the only player who took a set off of her was Badosa in the semifinal.

Her confidence is high, she is believing in her game and it's translating to a very well rounded style of tennis that is extremely hard to overcome. Sakkari has a favourable matchup against Swiatek and leads the H2H 3-1 with Swiatek winning the only match they played in 2022. It was in Doha and the score was 6-3 6-4. A similar match is expected here once more so don't miss it.
