A drunk spectator was forced to leave the arena during the
doubles contest in the
Billie Jean King Cup. The team-based competition is
currently being played in Malaga where some of the top players are
participating and representing their respective countries.
In one of the matches which also featured women’s world
number two
Iga Swiatek, a drunk spectator was forced to leave the arena. The information
was shared by a user on the social media platform X—previously known as Twitter.
As per the information shared on the social media, the drunk spectator even
argued with the chair umpire. "Some drunk Czech misbehaving, arguing with
umpire," the user posted. "Standing up during serving and shouting
linda pojd, he is gettiing kicked out soon," the user further commented.
In the contest, Swiatek and her partner Katarzyna Kawa came
out on top against the pair of the Czech Republic’s Marie Bouzkova and Katerina
Siniakova in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-4. It was the 23-year-old’s
third consecutive win in the competition. She earlier defeated Spain’s Paula
Badosa in the singles category clash with a score of 6-3, 6-7, 6-1. She then go
the better of Czech Republic’s Linda Noskova with a score of 7-6, 4-6, 7-6.
With that win in the doubles category, Poland cemented their
spot in the semifinal of the competition. They will face Italy who came out on
top against Japan with a score of 2-1. For the winning team, two-time Grand Slam
winner Jasmine Paolini defeated Moyuka Uchijima in straight sets with a score
of 6-3, 6-4. Then in the doubles category, Paolini and her partner Sara Errani defeated
the pair of Shuko Aoyama and Eri Hozumi in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-4.
In the other singles category event, Japan’s Ena Shibahara defeated Elisabetta
Cocciaretto with a score of 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
