Jo Durie expects Emma Raducanu to retain coach Nick Cavaday after Wimbledon

Former Britain's number one player Jo Durie believes that young tennis star Emma Raducanu will continue to work with her current coach, Nick Cavaday, after a decent outing at Wimbledon. The third Grand Slam of the year is moving towards a conclusion as the remaining players are giving their all to secure the ultimate prize.

One of the most high-profile British players who took part in the mega-event was Raducanu, but her journey ended as she lost to New Zealand’s Lulu Sun in the fourth round with a score of 6-2, 5-7, 6-2. Former British women’s number one, Durie, was recently quoted in a report in which she suggested that the former world number 10 is set to continue with the current coaching staff. She also suggested that Raducanu has full trust in Cavaday.

“It is a trust thing. She knew Nick from her early days. You have got to have trust in the people around you as you’re making plans and dreams together,” she said. “That is the most important thing in my mind. She is working well with him and it is showing. Emma likes to take knowledge and move on. That is the way she did it. Is it right or wrong? It is not something I would personally have done. I liked a long-term plan.”

Raducanu broke onto the scene in 2021 when she clinched the US Open at the age of just 18. The most impressive aspect of that win was that she started the campaign through a qualifying round and still went on to win the title after beating Leylah Fernandez in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-3. However, since then, not much has gone right for the former world number 10 as she has struggled with consistent fitness and form. She returned to the court earlier this season after spending nearly 12 months on the sidelines.
