"It’s been a fun ride" - Serena Williams bids farewell to tennis

Serena Williams gave it to her all but Ajla Tomljanovic proved relentless beating the legend in three sets 7-5 6-7(4) 6-1.

It was a match Williams should have probably won, especially after stepping up to serve for the first set but in the end, it was a loss, a final one for the legendary player widely considered the best to ever do it. Fans were stunned, and spectators were stunned as she spoke:

“I thank everyone that’s here, that’s been on my side for so many years, decades, literally decade. It all started with my parents. They deserve everything. I’m grateful for them. These are happy tears, I guess. And I wouldn’t be Serena if it wasn’t for Venus. Thank you, Venus. She’s the only reason Serena Williams ever existed."

She added:

“It’s been a fun ride. It’s been the most incredible ride and journey I’ve ever been on in my life.”

And that is that. Williams evolves to something else, something away from the courts of tennis.
