Hubert Hurkacz has heaped praised on WTA compatriot
Iga Swiatek, stating the World No.1 is almost single-handedly changing the perception of tennis in their native Poland.
Swiatek has held the World No.1 ranking for over 90 cumulative weeks, accumulating four Grand Slam titles in the process. The 22-year old has been a dominant force on the WTA circuit, sweeping past most of her opposition while adding more accolades to her already impressive resume.
Hurkacz amazed by Swiatek's progress at such a young age
In an interview with The Khaleej Times prior to the ATP event in Dubai, Hurkacz spoke about how Swiatek was inspiring a new generation of children to take up tennis back home. Furthermore, he highlighted her qualities, not just as a tennis player but also as a human being.
"Iga Swiatek is such an amazing person and a tennis player," Hurkacz said. "It’s remarkable what she has achieved in her career. She is still so young. We are hoping that our passion for tennis will inspire more and more young kids in Poland. I hope they will continue to enjoy this beautiful sport."
