Former World No.4 Bianca Andreescu will kick off her 2023 Roland Garros campaign against two-time Grand Slam champion Victoria Azarenka on Tuesday in the first round.
In an interview with TSN, Andreescu seemed amused that this would be her first meeting against the former World No.1 on the main draw of the WTA circuit.
""I've been surprised that I haven't actually played her," said the 22-year old. "I kind of expected to get a somewhat tough first round match because that’s just my luck.
"But I do play well against top players so I’m really looking forward to it."
The 2019 US Open champion stated she was close to 100% after suffering a horrific ankle injury at the Miami Open in March, and will definitely be tested when she faces off against the Belarusian.
