Ons Jabeur and Donna Vekic cruised to easy victories against Kanepi and Tig at the US Open at the start of day 4 of the event.
Donna Vekic and
Ons Jabeur both had no issues in reaching the 3rd round of the US Open after defeating their opponents in straight sets. One Jabeur has been having a very good restart to the season and her good play continued today against
Kaia Kanepi. The first set was a bit of a struggle where Jabeur had to go to the tiebreak in order to win it. Similar to the whole set, the tiebreak was also closely contested but Jabeur pulled through 10-8.
The 2nd set was much more in line of what we have come to expect from Ons. She dominated from beginning to start leaving her opponents nothing at all. Kanepi was very reserved in the 2nd set making many mistakes on top of generally looking disinterested.
Jabeur seized that opportunity and wrapped up the match quickly 6-0.
Donna Vekic had a similar day at the office against Tig but she was even more convincing. 69 minutes was all it took for the Croatian to smash Tig on the court and secure a 6-2 6-1 victory. Tig was simply outmatched from the start struggling even on her 1st serve. On her 2nd serve she was smashed winning only a third of those rallies. All in all a dominant display from Vekic who looks better than last week.
