Ons Jabeur continues to make history this season, as she fought past Anette Kontaveit to reach the semifinals at the BNP Paribas Open Indian Wells tournament.
The Tunisian pulled off a 7-5 6-3 victory on Thursday night, displaying an array of shots that left Kontaveit flustered. After the pair exchanged breaks in the first set, Jabeur finally sealed the deal with some exceptional play that saw her take a one set lead.
The second set was less competitive, as the 12th seed dictated play before obtaining the crucial break. After being guaranteed a spot in the Top 10 rankings following her round of 16 win this week, Jabeur continues to impress as she is two wins away from her first WTA 1000 title.
The Tunisian will face the winner between Angelique Kerber and Paula Badosa, with both ladies competing for the last semifinal spot.
