Ons Jabuer moves on to the Volvo Car Open semifinal after a brilliant match against
Coco Gauff whom she defeated in straight sets.
This was the first clay quarterfinal for Coco Gauff and while there were no obvious signs of nerves she had other issues. She faced a very inspired
Ons Jabeur who is enjoying her best season on the tour yet playing a very consistent brand of tennis. The Tunisian player was strong once again defeating Gauff 6-3 6-3.
Gauff started off better almost breaking Jabeur in her first service game but she would then lose her own serve in the next game. That started a series of broken serves with Gauff losing her serve three times to give Jabeur a 5-3 lead in the end. The Tunisian player would serve out the set 6-3.
Even though Gauff looked solid she had issues in her game which became apparent after she called a medical timeout midway through the opening set. Despite that, she continued to play even breaking Ons in the first game of the 2nd set. She did give it right back continuing her serving woes.
Several games later she would lose her serve once again giving Jabeur the decisive lead in the match. Ons would then proceed to close the match with another 6-3 victory. A great performance from Jabeur against a shaky Gauff who had undisclosed issues throughout the match.
