Jessica Pegula sends Bianca Andreescu packing in Madrid

Jessica Pegula played a really strong match against Bianca Andreescu who had her moments as well to advance in Madrid 7-5 6-1.

It was a very interesting match between two very hard hitters but the American who has been in better shape recently proved better. Andreescu actually was the first player to strike taking an early lead but she gave it right back. Andreescu never quite found a good rhythm in this match and Pegula was able to take advantage of that.

Andreescu had another lead later in the match but once again it was Pegula who battled all the way back. Towards the end of the set, Pegula even started playing better and she finished off the first set with 7-5. It was a huge missed chance by Andreescu who really missed her first serve. On her 2nd serve, she was completely dominated by Pegula.

Her play deteriorated after that and Pegula was able to take a 3-1 lead. The match was then suspended due to rain and once the players returned Andreescu was completely cold. Pegula finished off the job quickly 6-1 in the 2nd set to move on and continue her Madrid run.
