The first match of the day Wednesday
Porsche Tennis Grand Prix programme was between
Karolina Pliskova and
Maria Sakkari with the former winning 6-2 6-3.
It was supposed to be a very close matchup between two great players but it wasn't really. Karolina Pliskova dominated it rather comfortably thanks to her serve which did a lot of damage in the indoor conditions. Sakkari served decently as well but she had a lot more problems actually winning rallies.
Pliskova only lost six points on her serve in the entire match and only 11 points total on her serve altogether. Sakkari for example lost 15 points on her first serve alone which shows the difference in how the service games went. The only break point Pliskova faced was saved comfortably while Sakkari faced 10 break points saving only four of those.
It was just not a good match for Sakkari who struggled with the heavy game of Pliskova. The Czech player playing one of her better matches this year certainly didn't help.
