Coco Gauff will begin the clay part of the season with no coach as she parted ways with Diego Moyano after the Miami Open but she's in no rush of finding a replacement.
Gauff and Moyano worked for a year and parted ways on good terms following the Miami Open and she's yet to hire a replacement.
The American is not worried about and is taking her time to hire the right person. She did admit that it wasn't her call because it was the coach who initiated the split:
"It wasn't really my decision. He was having some
personal things going on, so he had to step down. So I would say it was
something that I think both of us didn't want to happen, because we did
have such a good time together. But I understand that, and I wish him
nothing but the best. I know that he's always a person that if I need to
call I'll pick up the phone, and I had a great year with him."
She wanted to hire a coach before the clay season but she's yet to do so:
"I had the goal of maybe getting a coach before the clay
season, but after Miami is when I found out from Diego, so I didn't
have that much time to decide. Now I'm on the fence, of more so just
staying with the situation that I have now instead of introducing
someone new. But we'll see."
