Coco Gauff terminated her partnership with her coach Diego Moyano after one year due to personal reasons.
Many noteworthy achievements were made during the dynamic duo's one-year partnership, so their amicable separation has surprised many. Gauff's recent triumph at the 2023 Miami Open in a doubles tournament with her partner Jessica Pegula is a prime example. Over the past year, Gauff has been steadily improving her game, winning impressive matches and establishing herself as one of the world's top tennis players.
In 2022, she attained the world no.1 rank in doubles and ended the season in the Top 10 in singles. This year, she has set her sights even higher but it won't happen with Moyano as part of the team. Moyano joined Gauff's already impressive team last year, which included her father Corey Gauff and coach Jean-Christophe Faurel. Together, they have helped the teenage sensation mature as a player on the court.
The coach released a statement on the decision:
"Thank you! After a fantastic year where we achieve many great things I have to stop working with Coco due to my personal reasons. Thank you so much for this amazing year plenty of memories."
Adding:
"It is really a pleasure to work with you Coco, a real champion on and off the court. Want to thank Gauff’s family for the trust and support along this year. You guys have been amazing. And want to thanks as well the team that worked hard with me to achieve the goals."
