Daria Kasatkina made a stunning comeback over Iga Swiatek in Eastbourne winning 4-6 6-0 6-1.
It was not a good finish by Iga Swiatek who won only one game in the final two sets for an early exit in Eastbourne. The Polish player surprised many when she came out and said that she won't be focusing on the grass season looking ahead to the Olympic Games.
She played like today after winning a close opening set. Swiatek came out strong against Kasatkina who had been playing a lot of matches lately. Iga took a 3-0 lead and held it for the better part of the set. At 4-2, she lost her serve starting a sequence of 4 breaks in a row.
She emerged on top after that mess winning the opening set with 6-4. However, a collapse of epic proportions followed. Kasatkina came out strong applying pressure on Swiatek who simply folded. She lost the 2nd set with 6-0 and she did not perform much better.
For the 2nd day in a row, she found herself down 1-4 in the 3rd set and in this one she never recovered. Kasatkina closed it out quickly win 6-1. Swiatek bows out of Eastbourne after winning only one game in 13 final games of the match.
