Kim Clijsters has regrets about her career and that's nothing unusual as most players have but it's not the era in which she's playing because she feels very lucky to have shared the court with some legends.
Clijsters played at a very strong time for WTA tennis facing many legendary players that are mostly not in the game anymore. She was able to win grand slams while battling and just being able to share the court with them was highly valuable to her.
She spoke about playing in the era of legends like Serena and Venus Williams, Capriati and others saying:
"I feel very lucky that I've been able to play in an era where it started early, as 1998 was my first year on tour. I played against Capriati, I was able to play against Steffi (Graf), Monica (Seles), and then I was able to play Venus and Serena, watch Roger and Rafa compete, and Andy, Novak."
It's a privilege she shares with many as this recent era of tennis truly has been one of the most amazing eras in tennis and Clijsters knows that:
"I feel so lucky that I've been a part of watching these guys and women compete at a level, and they've helped me improve and get better, just to learn from them. Even when they're practicing next to you or you're watching them from your hotel room on TV, you absorb so much. Without a doubt, that whole generation has had a huge impact on even the professional players that were playing."
