Anett Kontaveit had a good run in Eastbourne reaching the final but the Estonian ultimately lost to Ostapenko 3-6 3-6.
It continued a stretch of not the greatest of results for Kontaveit who has high ambitions. After the defeat, Kontaveit parted ways with her coach Ain Suurthal which was announced shortly after the defeat. Suurthal coached Kontaveit since April when she parted ways with longtime coach Nigel Sears.
The statemenet read:
"Annet's cooperation with Ain ended with the probationary period. Anett thanks him for the help he provided. Ain certainly helped hone her
technique, but Anet still needs a coach with experience on the WTA
Tour"
Kontaveit will use her physical coach as her stand in coach for
Wimbledon until she finds a new coach. The priority for the Estoanina will be an established coach with lots of experience on the WTA tour.
