Veronika Kudermetova confirmed her solid form from St. Petersburg with a brilliant win over
Victoria Azarenka in Dubai 6-3 6-4.
Veronika Kudermetova played very good tennis last week in St. Petersburg but ran into an inspired Bencic who defeated her. She continued her solid form this week in Dubai by taking down Victoria Azarenka in a pretty convincing fashion. Kudermetova found ways to frustrate Azaerenka early as she took a 3-1 lead. She was able to keep it winning the first set with 6-4.
Azarenka did not serve well at all and it gave her a lot of trouble. Kudermetova was able to patiently wait for her chance and then pounce on it. In the 2nd set, we saw some better serving from Azareanka but Kudermetova was able to exploit her 2nd serve. She won the majority of those rallies and that allowed her to get another break.
On her own serve, Kudermetova was overall very good not allowing Azarenka to put any kind of pressure on her. The Belarussian was not as consistent from the baseline as she usually is and overall it was just a combination of several factors that produced such as result for her. 7 double faults did not help either and Kudermetova was able to finish the 2nd set with 6-4.
