There has been heavy debate on whether the WTA does enough to promote it's younger players, with former World No.1
Karolina Pliskova chiming in by stating WTA players often discuss about the issue on WhatsApp.
Pliskova is one of the veterans on tour, having ascended to the World No.1 position for a total of eight weeks. Furthermore, the 31-year old has won 16 career 16 singles titles, in addition to reaching the final at Wimbledon and the US Open.
Current players discuss WTA issues via messaging apps, says Pliskova
When asked about whether the WTA does enough to advance women's tennis, Pliskova revealed the topic is frequently discussed in a WhatsApp group created and monitored strictly by the players.
"Girls have groups on WhatsApp, they discuss it," said Pliskova. "But I don't comment on it, changes take a long time."
The Czech star is winding down her career, after reaching at least the semifinals in all four Grand Slam events. Pliskova currently sits at World No.38 in the WTA Rankings, and added she would like to spend her time focusing on the rest of her career.
"I don't want to put energy into it," she admitted. "I'm not at the beginning of my career anymore, so it goes beyond me. I just want to play my few more tournaments."
