The 20-year-old had a strong showing at Roland-Garros in 2022, reaching the quarterfinals of the French Open.
After advancing to the final of the 2021 US. Open, Fernandez was eliminated in the second round of the 2022 tournament by Liudmila Samsonova, losing in straight sets 6-3 7-6. Fernandez currently sits at No. 40 in the WTA singles rankings.
