WTA legend Serena Williams has established a legacy like no other player before having, having captured every title imaginable during her illustrious career. The American superstar has won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, four Olympic gold medals and spent a record number of weeks as World No.1. However, her biggest accomplishment has been giving birth to two children, according to the tennis star herself.
Williams is the mother of two daughters, Olympia and Adira River, with husband Alexis Ohanian. However, the former World No.1 has also ventured into other avenues outside of tennis. Following her retirement in 2022, the tennis star has become more heavily involved in her business ventures, and recently launched her own WYN Beauty brand.
In an interview with PEOPLE magazine, Williams spoke about her career and life post-retirement. The 42-year old expressed her joy at persevering during difficult times, and stated she had so much left to accomplish. When asked about being a parent, Williams spoke about it's rewarding yet unpredictable nature.
"Yeah, Olympia's now at an age where she's like, ‘Listen, I am wondering, why are you so famous?’ She was like, ‘You're a great tennis player.’ And so I told her the other day that she actually was in my belly when I won a big tournament [the 2017 Australian Open] and she was surprised. She's at an age now where I can kind of open up to her a little bit more," said the retired WTA champion.
