Liudmila Samsonova finished off a great week in Cleveland with another strong performance against Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-1 6-3 to lift the trophy.
Samsonova played a really strong event once more and it's the 2nd one since the tour shifted to North America. The Russian triumphed in Washington and she added another one in Cleveland. It was a performance similar to what she has been playing all week long.
Really strong serving and aggressive play that gave a lot of results. Sasnovich is known as a battler on the court but she was completely overwhelmed by Samsonva early in the match 6-1. Despite hitting her serve 81 % of the time, Sasnovich barely won any points on serve and lost all service games she played.
It was a bit better in the 2nd set as she was more competitive and held her serve a bit better but it was still far from perfect. The Russian got the break she needed at 2-1 and from there mostly focused on her own serve. She cruised finishing it off 6-3 to secure the trophy. A 3rd career trophy for the Russian.
