We are getting to the business end of the Cincinnati Open.
Eight remain with the first wo quarter-final contests being played out. First
up will see two Americans take to court with the No.3 seed Jessica Pegula looking
to continue her exquisite form on the WTA Tour against Amanda Anisimova.
Following that is a rematch of the Canadian Open final. Elena Rybakina will look
to take another huge step towards that coveted World No.1 spot but will have to
find a way past the reigning champion Iga Swiatek who is finding her old self

- But pro tennis, like other sports & much of life, IS in the celebrity exemption business. Do we not look the other way when Krygios throws chairs around the court or Swiatek delays play to suit her own rhythm? Are we not right now making a BIG deal about Eala .. & making light of the fact that her fans are annoyingly boisterous. & are screwing with the timing of match play? Tourney decision-makers have been handing out wild cards to whomever they wish for a long time.. to players in their country, to former greats, to potential greats & maybe there are even 'secret' choices happening.. who knows. Yes, if I were Venus, I would be embarrassed by now.. & end it myself..
