Top class 👏 Musetti takes out Norrie 3-6 6-4 6-1 to move into his 4th QF of the season! #BCNOpenBS
Cameron Norrie led Lorenzo Musetti for a while in their Barcelona Open clash but the Italian was able to get it done in the end beating him in three sets 3-6 6-4 6-1.
Cameron Norrie was known as a pretty decent clay player in the past and he proved that this year by earning a big trophy on the surface in Rio. He made it to the final and got a bit lucky to face an injured Alcaraz in the ATP 500 final winning in the end. The Brit, however, has been dreadful since then losing early in both Indian Wells and Miami and his clay level on the European red dirt isn't inspiring either.
He faced a good clay player in Musetti today and when he took the first set, things looked quite promising for him. He didn't quite sustain the same level as Musetti raised his and the Italian captured the second set 6-4 to force a decider. Fans were hoping for a good decider but it didn't go that way as Musetti completely outplayed Norrie.
The Brit won only one service game with his serve pretty non-existent. He hit his first serve only 36 % of the time and that was trouble. It's not the first time he botched a decider and certainly not the first time his serve let him down.
