Maria Sakkari eases her way past Jeanjean in Berlin opener

Maria Sakkari got off to a winning start in Berlin taking down Roland Garros breakout player Leolia Jeanjean 6-3 6-2.

Sakkari had a bad outing in Nottingham last week but she made a good start in Berlin this week. The Greek player opened the match with an early break against her opponent taking the 2-0 lead. She kept applying pressure on her opponent forcing her to save break points in the majority of service games. Jeanjean help up pretty well but she lost her serve once more to finish off the opening set 6-3.

The 2nd set featured strong play by Sakkari once more as Jeanjean was forced to save break points in each of the first two service games. The French player was able to hold up and make it 2-2 as Maria largely cruised in her own service games. She would then go on to win four games in a row finishing off the match with 6-2 in the final set.

A superb performance from Sakkari who allowed Jeanjean only one service game in the entire match without having to deal with break points. Fairly impressive win.
