Aryna Sabalenka once again had to fight hard in order to win a match in Melbourne as she once again came back from losing the first set and winning.
Her victim this time around was Marketa Vondrousova who was on top after the first set but saw herself getting outplayed in the 2nd set. The 3rd set was never in question for Sabalenka who stormed past her opponent with 6-1. After the match, Sabalenka was glad about the win saying:
"Of course I'm proud of myself that I was able, after the first set, to come back. It was really tough. I was really tight in the first set. Conditions were really tough today. I'm really happy that I pushed myself so hard and I came back."
Sabalenka overcome several issues in this match to win the match and saw herself improve her serve. The improvement was not dramatical as she still committed 10 double faults but she kept it positive after the match saying:
"I'm mostly happy that I made only 10 doudble faults."
The comment received approval from the fans who cheered her on as she raised her hands triumphantly. Her next opponent is Estonian veteran Kaia Kanepi and on that matchup she said:
"[Kanepi is] a great player. It was a tough match [last year]. She's serving well, hits pretty hard. It's really interesting to play against her. I'm really looking forward to this match."
