Former Roland Garros semi-finalist Nadia Podoroska has come out as gay revealing a relationship with fellow Argentinian tennis player Gulliermina Naya.
The Argentine player followed Daria Kasatkina who also came out as gay recently and it earned the blessings of Billie Jean King. The legendary player was one of the first players that came out as gay and she worked really hard for WTA players to have the same opportunities as their male counterparts.
The revelation came on Instagram and fans flocked to the comments to congratulate her on being open with the world. King herself wrote on Twitter:
"Congratulations to WTA player @nadiapodoroska on her announcement. Living authentically takes such courage, but it is always worth it."
Podoroska responded to King writing:
"Thank you very much, BJK. I respect you for everything you represent to us. You are a true role model in the fight for equality in sport and beyond sport."
