Singles final was first to be played on the final day in Hiroshima. The Japanese spectators had a lot to look forward to, as they had their pair in the doubles finals and even the two Japanese women facing each other in singles.
Misaki Doi entered the singles finals much better. She took the opponent's serve twice and led in the first set already 3-1. But since then, Hibino has won 9 games in a row, winning the first set 6-3 and leading the second 4-0. With this, her countryman could not do anything and lost in the final match 6-3 and 6-2. For Hibino it was the second WTA title after the triumph in Tashkent in 2015. Doi could still win the doubles title after a failure in singles.
And so she did. Doi and Hibino did not enter the final match ideally when they lost the first set 3-6, but subsequently managed to equalize the score when they won the second set 6-4. In the decisive championship tie-break they defeated McHale and Savinykh 10-4. So Hibino could enjoy the second title in Hiroshima, and for Doi it was at least a small patch for the lose from the singles final.
