Naomi Osaka will not be required to attend press conferences at the Tokyo
Olympic Games which might have contributed to her decision to play.
Naomi Osaka recently pulled out of Wimbledon but confirmed her attendance at the Tokyo Olympic Games. Many suspected the honour of playing for Japan in Japan was a deciding factor but now it became known she will not be forced to attend press conferences at the games.
The Japanese Olympic committee confirmed that by saying "The IOC has never obliged athletes to hold a press conference" When media outlets reached out to the committee with a follow up their media relations team clarified with 'while Olympic medalists usually attend press conferences after events, they will not penalize those who refuse to participate.'
Osaka has previously expressed great pride in representing Japan and expressed her excitement about playing at the Olympic Games.
