So far, so good for @naomiosaka 5/5 sets won at the #MiamiOpen 💪
A couple of United States residents went ahead in Miami as Osaka battled and downed Alison Riske 6-3 6-4 in South Beach.
The Japanese player arrived in Miami in good spirits following a rather rough week in Indian Wells with the early exit and heckling incident. She also revealed she talked to a therapist in the meantime and it's working well for her in South Beach. She won her 3rd match and this one followed a similar pattern of dominance as the previous one.
Osaka established control of the match early by jumping out to a 3-0 lead immediately. It was a good development for Osaka as she faced a couple of break points on her own serve in the first game. After that, both players settled into a nice rhythm and Osaka mostly focused on keeping her serve. She closed out the first set with 6-4.
Thigns went a bit differnetl in the 2nd set as Riske was the player jumping out to an early lead. It was a lapse of focus by Osaka but once she regrouped she completely turned it around. She went on a 4-0 run to turn the score to 4-2 and from there she cruised to a comfortable finish. Osaka is looking very comfortable in Miami and she is lookign like a real threat to win the event.
